About Us

Our Story

The California Department of Health Care Services, The Center at Sierra Health Foundation, and Kauffman and Associates, Inc., collaborated to develop this statewide, resource center for California Native organizations and other public-serving organizations that provide substance use prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services to California residents.

We recognize that many California tribal and urban Indian people do not have seamless access to the full continuum of care available throughout California and this resource center is designed to help broaden access to care for Native people.

The purpose of the Substance Use Support Alliance is to offer a range of Native-centric resources and training opportunities to support your ability to engage and provide culturally meaningful services to Native people. We can also provide guidance for building partnerships with, and expanding your services, to tribal and urban Indian communities. For example, our experienced SUD and behavioral health care provides can help increase your awareness about California Native communities by county, deepen your knowledge of best practices for improved treatment and recovery outcomes for tribal and urban Indian people, and help identify strategies to reduce barriers to care.

We strive for a future where all Native communities have seamless access to culturally excellent support offered by Native and non-Native SUD organizations
